Generic Adalat, Procardia
(Generic name: Nifedipine)
Adalat Uses
Adalat is used to treat high blood pressure
and to prevent chest pain associated with coronary artery disease.
How Taken
Adalat 10mg capsules
may be taken three times a day to begin. Extended release tabs of
30mg to 60 mg are to be taken once a day. This may be increased by your doctor if necessary.
Adalat Precautions
If you are over 60, adverse reactions to Adalat may be more severe. Therefore do not
drive or operate machinery until you determine how the medication will affect you.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is close to your next dose, skip
the missed does and resume your normal schedule.
Adalat Side Effects
Serious side effects include breathing difficulty, coughing, irregular heart beat,
chest pain and fainting. If any of these occur, contact your doctor immediately.
Less serious side effects may include headache, dizziness, warm or flushed skin, swelling
in the feet, calves or ankles, palpitations, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vision problems and increased urination.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat and direct light.
Overdose
If you suspect on overdose, contact your doctor immediately. Symptoms may appear
as dizziness, slurred speech, nausea, weakness, drowsiness, confusion or abnormal heart beat.
More Information
Using Adalat may cause complications in patients with liver or kidney disease.
