Amiloride Hcl
Drug Uses
Amiloride is used as s upllementary treatment with other diuretics to increase the excretion of
sodium and water through the urine.
How Taken
Amiloride is prescribed 5mg one time a day to start with increases up to 10mg if needed.
The maximum dose is 20mg one time per day usually taken in the morning.
Warnings/Precautions
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant, breast feeding or may become pregnant.
Missed Dose
If you miss a does, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s close to the time
for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your normal schedule.
Amiloride Hcl Side Effects
Serious side effects may include irregular heart beat, lightheadedness due to the
increase in potassium in the system, weight loss, weakness, dizziness, extreme fatigue,
abdominal pain, shortness of breath, tingling in the hands feet or lips.
Less serious side effects include impotence, constipation, vominting, diarrhea and increased sensitivity to sunlight.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed container and keep away from heat and direct light.
Overdose
If you suspect on overdose, contact your doctor immediately. Symptoms may appear
as a rapid or irregular heart beat, shortness of breath, confusion or weakness.

Amiloride alters kidney enzymes that control urine production and reduces the
overall fluids in the body. This helps with symptoms of heart, liver or kidney disease.
