Generic Calan
(Generic name - Verapamil)
Calan Uses
Calan is used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain associated with heart
disease as well as heartbeat irregularities.
How Taken
Adults are to take 40mg to 160mg three times per day. Your doctor may increase
the dose as necessary, up to a maximum of 480mg per day.
Calan Precautions
Patients over the age of 60 will have more adverse reactions and must not engage
in driving or hazardous work until it is determined how the medication will affect them.
Missed Dose
Take it as soon as you remember. If it’s near the time for your next dose, skip
the missed dose and resume normal schedule.
Calan Side Effects
Breathing difficulty, coughing, or wheezing, irregular or pounding heart beat,
chest pain, extreme dizziness, and fainting are serious side effects; call your doctor immediately.
Less serious side effects are headache, dizziness, constipation, flushing and a feeling of warmth,
selling in the feet, ankles, or calves.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.
Do not allow the medicine to freeze.
Calan - overdose
If you suspect an overdose, contact your doctor immediately. Symptoms might include
extremely slow heart beat an heart palpitations, dizziness or fainting due to excessively low blood pressure.
