Generic Calciferol
(Generic name: Alfa Calcidol)
Calciferol Uses
Calciferol is used to treat and prevent Vitamin D deficiencies, to regulate
parathyroid hormones and to prevent and treat muscle cramps and certain types of calcium disorders.
How Taken
Calciferol should be taken as whole capsules, not to be crushed or chewed.
The liquid form should be measured precisely using a medication spoon.
Calciferol Precautions
If you are over the age of 60, side effects may be more likely and sever in older patients.
Do not drive or engage in hazardous work until you determine how the drug will affect you.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose,
skip the dose and resume your regular dosage schedule.
Calciferol Side Effects
Though generally well tolerated, seek medical treatment if you experience nausea, loss
of appetitive, vomiting, stomach cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, increased urination,
muscle or bone pain, headache, weight loss dizziness or weakness.
There may be side effects not known. Contact your doctor if you experience anything out of the ordinary.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.
Calciferol Overdose
If an overdose is taken, you may experience severe drowsiness, unconsciousness,
weakness, headache, loss of appetite, dry mouth, metallic taste, nausea or vomiting,
stomach cramps, constipation and/or diarrhea and dizziness or irritability.
