Generic Cycrin
(Generic name: Medroxyprogesterone)
Cycrin Uses
Cycrin is used to treat amenorrhea, or the cessation of menstrual periods and abnormal uterine bleeding.
It can also be used as a contraceptive.
How Taken
For amenorrhea, 5 to 10mg tablets a day for 5 to 10 days. For abnormal uterine bleeding
take 5 to 10mg tablets for 5 to 10 days beginning on the 16th or 21st day of the menstrual cycle.
For contraception, one injection every 3 months.
Cycrin Precautions
Before you use Cycrin, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
This drug must not be used during pregnancy. Caution is advised when taking this drug.
Consult your doctor if you experience asthma, epilepsy, heart or circulation problems,
migraine headaches, breast disease, bleeding problems, diabetes, high blood cholesterol,
or central nervous system disorders such as depression.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it’s time for the next dose.
In that case, skip the dose and resume your regular dosage schedule. Do not double the next dose.
Cycrin Side Effects
Abnormal menstrual bleeding, unexpected or increased flow of breast5 milk, mental depression,
skin rash, loss or change in speech, coordination or vision and sever and sudden shortness of
breath are serious side effect of Cycrin. Call your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed container and keep away from heat and direct light.
Overdose
No specific symptoms.
More Information
Use of Cycrin may cause complications in patients with liver or kidney disease, since these
organs work together to remove the mediation from the body.
