Generic Esidrix
(Generic name: Hydrochlorothiazide)
Drug Uses
Esidrix is prescribed to treat high blood pressure and to treat conditions that cause edema.
How Taken
In order to reduce body water, adults should start with 25 to 100mg once or twice a day.
Your doctor may adjust the dosage or frequency to every other day three to five days a week.
Esidrix Precautions
Adverse reactions may be more likely and severe in older people.
This drug has been known to cause birth defects and should not be taken during pregnancy.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember unless it is near your next dose.
In this case, skip the missed does and resume your normal schedule.
Esidrix Side Effects
Skin rash, hives, intense itching, swelling of the mouth and throat, breathing difficulty,
heart rhythm irregularities, lightheadedness and unusual bleeding or bruising should
be reported to your doctor. Muscle cramps or pain are considered less serious side effects.
Potassium depletion may lead to heart palpitations and weakness.
Fluid depletion may lead to dizziness, especially when changing positions.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat and direct light.
Keep the liquid forms in refrigerator but do not allow freezing.
Overdose
If you suspect an overdose has occurred, seek medical treatment immediately.
Symptoms of an overdose can include fainting, lethargy, dizziness, drowsiness,
confusion and gastrointestinal irritation.
More Information
To prevent Esidrix from interfering with sleep, take it in the morning.
If you are taking it for high blood pressure, follow the diet and weight control
measures as recommended by your doctor.
