Garamycin
Garamycin Uses
Garamycin is used to treat minor bacterial infections of the skin, including infected
bites, burns, abrasions and other wounds.
How Taken
Adults, teenagers and children over a year old should apply to the affected
site 3 to 4 times per day.
Garamycin Precautions
Adverse reactions may be more likely and more severe in older patients.
Make sure you tell your doctor about allergies that you might have before taking the antibiotic.
Caution is advised when using a topical antibiotic. Consult with your doctor if you have
hearing problems, kidney disease, any prior reactions to a skin cream or ointment and if
you have had any history of allergic reaction to any antibiotics.
Missed Dose
Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember unless it is near your next dose. In this
case, skip the missed does and resume your normal schedule.
Garamycin Side Effects
When used as directed, there are no side effects associated with Garamycin.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container and keep away from heat, moisture and direct light.
Garamycin Overdose
No cases of an overdose have been reported.
More Information
There is a varying opinion as to whether or not topical antibiotics are effective to treat infections.
Tell your doctor I your condition has not improved within a few days or starting Garamycin.
As with any antibiotic, this medication is only useful against strains of bacteria
that are susceptible to its effects.
