Generic Imdur
(Generic name: Isosorbide Mononitrate)
Imdur Uses
Imdur is used to prevent or relive attacks of angina.
How Taken
To prevent angina attacks, tablets should be taken in 20mg strength
twoice per day with doses at least seven hours apart. Extended-release tablets: 30 to 240mg once per day.
Imdur Precautions
Adverse reactions may be more likely and more severe in older patients.
Avoid such activities as driving or hazardous work until it is determined how Imdur will affect you.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose of Imdur as soon as you remember. If it is close to the
time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume a regular dosing schedule.
Do not double the next dose.
Imdur Side Effects
Blurred vision, dry mouth, severe or prolonged headache are serious side effects of taking Imdur.
Notify your doctor at once if you experience any of these symptoms.
Dizziness, lightheadedness, especially when getting up, and flushing of the face and
neck, rapid pulse or heartbeat and nausea or vomiting are less serious side effects and must be tolerated.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container away from heat and direct light.
Overdose
Bluish fingernails, lips or palms, as well as extreme dizziness or fainting,
unusual weakness, fever, weak and fast heartbeat and convulsions are indicators of an overdose.
More Information
Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly because it can cause a spasm of the
blood vessels in the heart. Consult your doctor about redcing the dose gradually.
Use extra care in hot weather or during exercise, or when you must stand long periods of time.
