Generic Medipren
(Generic name: Ibuprofen)
Medipren Uses
Medipren us used to treat mild to moderate pain and inflammation caused by tendonitis,
arthritis, bursitis, gout, soft tissue injuries, migraine and other vascular headaches,
menstrual cramps, and other conditions. It is also used to reduce fever.
How Taken
Adults should take 200 to 400mg every four to six hours for mild to moderate pain.
For fever 200 to 400mg every four to six hours as necessary, but nor more than 1200mg.
Medipren Precautions
Because of the potentially greater consequences of gastrointestinal side effects, the
dose of Medipren for older patients, especially those over the age of 70 is often reduced by half.
Missed Dose
Take Medipren as soon as you remember you missed a dose. However, if it is near the
time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosage schedule.
DO not double the next dose.
Medipren Side Effects
Shortness of breath, wheezing with or without swelling of legs or other signs of heart
failure, chest pain, peptic ulcer disease with vomiting of blood, dark, tarry stools,
decreasing kidney function are all serious side effects and should be reported to your doctor.
Storage
Store in a tightly sealed container away from heat and direct light.
Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose include severe nausea, vomiting, headache, confusion and seizures.
Seek medical treatment quickly.
More Information
Medipren should not be taken with other aspirins without your doctor’s approval.
In addition, consult your doctor if you are taking antihypertensives, steroids,
anticoagulants, antibiotics, valproic acid, digitalis drugs or zidovudine.
