Omeprazole
Omeprazole Uses
Omeprazole is used in the treatment of stomach ulcers, GERD and erosive esophagitis.
Heartburn is treated with nonprescription Omeprazole. Classification of this medication
falls into the proton pump inhibitors.
How Taken
Capsules of delayed release are taken usually once daily at meals. The regular capsules
once daily on empty stomach in morning and the nonprescription Omeprazole once daily
for a total of fourteen days.
Omeprazole Precautions
Make sure your physician knows all prescription, nonprescription, herbal or vitamin
supplements you are taking before going on omeprazole.
Missed Dose
Take the missed dosage when remembered unless it is close to the time for your next
dosage, and then skip your missed dose.
Omeprazole Side Effects
Constipation, pain in the back, cough, dizziness, diarrhea and pain in the stomach
are all possible side effects of Omeprazole.
Storage
Medication should be stored in the original container and the cap secured tightly at
all times. Keep this at room temperature far away from heat, light and moisture.
Overdose
Call your local poison control center or if breathing difficulties are involved then call 911.
